Three-Goal Win

"We knew that in order to prevent losses, we needed to win this one after two draws with tough teams. This was even more so the case due to the other teams' results from Saturday. This way nothing actually changed as far as table ranks are concerned," said Petr.

Arsenal took the lead relatively quickly when Alexis Sanchez punished Cook's hesitation in the 12th minute. "But then Bournemouth were able to equalise from a penalty. The second half was really quite intense – the opposing team played very well and there were scoring opportunities on both sides. We managed to add another goal shortly after the interval, which led to them opening up even more and yet for a long time we weren't able to get in one final goal for the peace of mind," stated Petr.

Quite to the contrary – in the 77th minute he saved Arsenal from a minor disaster when he dealt masterfully with Afobe's challenge from close-up. "It was going in between my legs and I was trying to cover as much space as possible. It was somewhat of an ice-hockey save, but I'm just happy it worked. It was crucial to stay in the lead and finally we even got in a third goal," Petr described the game.

Arsenal therefore remain on a no-loss streak, which in the Premier League has extended over 12 games. The Gunners only incurred one loss in the first round against Liverpool. "It's been a good series but we really need to start winning now. It's getting a little condensed in the top part of the table and each draw constitutes a loss," added Petr.
