Arsenal consolidated its role of a FA Cup favourite in the quarter final match against National League team Lincoln City, which the Gunners won 5-0 and thus qualified for the semifinals.
Petr gave a flawless performance and saved the team’s back particularly by a spectacular save in the 28th minute at 0-0, after Arnold’s challenge. Walcott took the lead for Arsenal towards the close of the first half, and the Gunners continued to demonstrate their strength after the interval by scoring another four goals.
“It was a game against an opponent which had miraculously made it all the way to the quarter finals and had nothing to lose. They still had the stamina to defend themselves during the first half and so it was difficult for us to create scoring opportunities. They, in turn, had a chance but I managed to deal with it and we were able to respond by an important opening goal,” Petr described the match.
“After the interval we were fully in charge. They could no longer resist our pressure, ran out of strength and all of that was ultimately reflected in the score,”he added after the Gunners’ 29th semifinals qualification in total.
