Loss at the Leaders’: It Was a Tough Week, Admits Petr
The Gunners were beaten in this Premier League round’s biggest game. They lost 1-3 to Chelsea, table leader and Petr’s former team, at Stamford Bridge. They are now losing 12 points on Chelsea.
The score changed fairly early on. In the 13th minute Costa headed the ball into the crossbar from which it rebounded over to Marcos Alonso, who then pushed past Bellerino and scored from a header. “We hadn’t actually started off badly, but Chelsea scored first. The opening goal put them into an advantageous position,”said Petr.
Shortly after the interval, Hazard singlehandedly added a second goal, followed towards the game’s close by Fabregas, who punished Petr for his unfortunate clearing kick. “My mistake right before the third goal sort of underlined everything,”Petr stated honestly. “Although we were eventually able to reduce their lead, it was too late for any kind of overturn since we were still losing by two goals. That’s why the third goal I conceded hurts twice as much,” he added.
Arsenal haven't had the best week. On Tuesday they unexpectedly succumbed to Watford and now they have no points to take away from the Chelsea game. “It’s been a really tough week. Now all we can do is try to win as many of the remaining games as we can and hope the other teams hesitate,”Petr referred to Chelsea’s significant lead.
