It is the fourth place which Arsenal need in order to qualify for Champions League still. “We desperately needed this win so as to maintain hope. We live to see another day,” said Petr.

 

He saved the day twice in a row during the first half and the Gunners went on to score after the interval. “I’m glad my saves as well as the clean sheet ended up helping the team. It was a pretty even fight at first, but we got things under firm control once we’d scored the opening goal and we brought the win home. Arsenal haven’t been lucky in matches with Southampton in recent times, so I’m glad we’ve broken the curse,” said Petr.

 

With the Premier League having gained rapid pace, the Gunners have only till Saturday before they face their next opponent, Stoke on Trent.
