Ten-man Chelsea lost at Anfield

The Blues suffered 2-0 defeat at Liverpool as Fernando Torres grabbed two late goals in the battle for second place. Blues played the last third of the match in ten after Frank Lampard was sent off on 60 minutes.

PETR CECH showed in the game that he is the man Chelsea can rely on. Czech keeper pushed to safety Alonso's long distance shot and tipped away Riera's attempt in 11th and 42nd minutes.

The crucial moment happened after 60 minutes - Lampard went in studs up in a tackle on Alonso and despite of touching the ball saw the red card.

Liverpool began to dominate the field. On 68 minutes Alex deflection sent the ball onto the bar and after 80 minutes Petr stopped Benayoun's dangerous shot. But the breakthrough was to come in the very end by Fernando Torres.

On 89 minutes Spanish striker headed in a near-post Aurelio's cross and broke the deadlock. As Chelsea tried to reach the equaliser, Torres added the second in the fourh minute of the injury time.

After the second defeat against Liverpool this season, the Blues fell to third position, with five-point gap on Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.
